Firearm training is vital because there is an average of 14.6 gun deaths per 100,000 people by some form of gun-related cause every year. It is important to be trained by a licensed professional or an experienced parent or friend to include safety, proper handling, usage, and proper safe storage. If you give a child a gun and say, “Go ahead and do whatever you want with it,” chances are the child is not going to know what to do and possibly hurt themselves or others. The same thing can apply to any age as well. Most people cannot just pick up a sport or hobby and expect to excel right away. Like most activities one must be trained and continue to practice so they may increase their confidence and overall ability. Same applies to someone who is using a gun. The more you safely handle a weapon the better you will become with accuracy.
Safety begins with the handler of the weapon. If someone wants to purchase a gun it is their responsibility to educate themselves on the weapon before they start shooting. What to aim at and not to “point” at is very important; how to hold a gun properly is also a key part of using a gun. When purchasing a weapon, first-time firearm owners and even experienced owners need to improve their safety and performance with gun training. You can start with a dry fire, but it is better to start training with an experienced specialist. Not only do skilled professionals help with training and proper use, but they also keep you up to date with gun laws and regulations.
Training with a laser auxiliary device, such as a home shooting simulator, will help the gun owner become more confident and shoot better. Training often not only lessens the anxiety and fear of holding and shooting a gun, but it will also help the user become proficient and precise, keeping bullets from traveling off course and hitting an unintended target such as a person, animal, or object. Proper storage is essential for safety by keeping individuals who should not be handling weapons away from them and preventing accidents from happening. Proper storage will also prevent damage to the weapon and ammunition. Should one or the other occur, accidental discharges or other malfunctions occurring to the weapon can cause injury or even death.
One of the most popular reasons a person gets a gun is to hunt. Where I live, you hear gunfire from hunters in the morning and throughout the day when it is hunting season. I must know the rules and regulations if I ever decide to go hunting with my Dad. Hunting can be a dangerous sport if you or someone you are with does not know how to properly handle the gun. There are many laws regarding hunting, such as when you can and can not shoot a particular animal, if you need a license to kill a particular animal, and hunting regulations vary by county. Being trained and prepared before going hunting is also very important so the instructor can teach you how to be aware of your surroundings. As you know, wearing camouflage is an important part of any hunter’s gear, so getting taught where to aim and to not accidentally hit a hunter all comes from getting taught how to properly use your firearm. Furthermore, knowing gun safety and laws are essential in any condition when using your gun.
