Are you a caregiver agency looking for tips on recruiting more caregivers? If the answer is “yes!”, then you’ve come to the right place. Specifically, this guide will prepare you for hiring caregivers over the coming decade, which is going to be an incredibly busy period for the industry.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of healthcare aids – such as caregivers – is projected to grow 25% between now and 2031. In simple terms, this means that millions of caregiver job vacancies are going to open up around the world, which is why your agency needs to be at the top of its game when it comes to recruiting!

To recruit hard-working and loyal caregivers, you might be surprised to learn that you don’t need to adopt any complicated strategies or invest tons of money. Instead, you can keep it simple yet effective by using the following expert tips:

Provide Caregivers with Health and Home Care Apps

Over the past few years, the caregiving industry has changed beyond belief.

Now, modern caregiver agencies are providing their employees with health and home care apps that they can download to their smartphones.

These apps make life easier for caregivers while also enabling them to provide the best possible care to patients.

Consider this for a second: many of the apps for home health care, like the one provided by CareAcademy allow caregivers to:

  • Receive client-specific training
  • Get important reminders
  • Quickly develop new caregiving skills

When you showcase the app (or apps) available for potential new hires, they’ll be impressed with your management and training process in the recruitment process. In turn, this will make them much more likely to join you!

Use Multiple Recruitment Platforms

In the 2020s, the best tool you have for recruiting new caregivers is the internet.

On the internet, multiple recruitment platforms make life incredibly easy for recruitment offices. The best ones to use are:

  • LinkedIn
  • Indeed
  • ZipRecruiter

Across these platforms, you can post all your active caregiver vacancies, from full-time to part-time roles.

With LinkedIn, you can search for potential new hires and reach out to them through direct messages, where you can make your proposal. For instance, if you’re looking to recruit caregivers in Boston, then you can specifically filter out Boston-based caregivers who are currently searching for roles – simple!

It’s recommended that you use as many recruitment platforms as possible so that you get maximum market coverage, which is very important at these times.

Create Employee Case Studies

If you have a selection of caregivers who’ve been working with you for a while, then it’s a great idea to create some employee case studies (whether they’re in written or video form). These case studies can then be posted to your website and social media pages to highlight your work culture and the benefits that come with it.

Currently, the big trend is to interview employees on camera and discuss with them why they enjoy working for the hiring company. Typically, they’ll discuss benefits such as a fun working environment, a good salary, and helpful colleagues – you get the idea!

Rather than taking your recruit team’s word for it, potential new hires will be able to look at employee case studies and quickly understand that you’re an excellent agency to work for.

Be Clear and Honest with Job Descriptions

When you post your job vacancies, make sure to be clear and honest with the descriptions so that caregivers know what to expect from their roles. Usually, this will involve preparing food, helping with bathing and grooming, running errands, and more. However, if your caregivers are required to take on specific specialist roles, then this is something you need to let them know!

Offer Flexible Interviews

It’s now become very common for caregiver agencies (as well as all other types of agencies) to offer flexible interviews in the recruitment process.

A popular example of this would be the Zoom interview, which is where the recruitment interviewer speaks to the applicant over Zoom rather than in person. A major benefit of this is that it saves people from traveling and enables more interviews to take place in a shorter space.

Pay for Facebook Ads

Last but not least, if you want to boost your agency and make job vacancies more visible, it’s recommended that you give Facebook ads a try.

According to research, Facebook ads cost (on average) $12.07 per 1000 impressions, which is pretty good value for money – especially when you consider that thousands of companies now receive applications as a direct result of successful Facebook advertising!
