Benefits Of A Full Night's Sleep

Benefits Of A Full Night's Sleep

1. Sleeping Can Provide A Boost To Your Immune System

When you give your body the sleep it requires, it provides your body with the time it needs to heal. During your sleep, your body goes through a restoration process. The immune cells and proteins in your body get the needed time to ward off viruses and bacteria. According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, getting ample sleep can help to make the effects of a vaccine much more effective. Thus, proving that sleep can help to boost your immune system.

2. Reduce Weight Gain

While simply getting 8 hours of sleep isn’t going to result in weight loss, it certainly won’t hurt. While it may not be able to help you lose weight alone, if you pair a good sleep schedule with a good fitness schedule, you have a winning combination. Without getting sufficient sleep, your body produces a hormone that can enhance your appetite. Along with this, your body ends up decreasing the production of leptin which is a hormone that signals to your body that you’re full. When you put these things together, you have yourself a recipe for weight gain. Along with this, when you aren’t getting enough sleep, you tend to have elevated cortisol levels which are the stress hormone in your body. This can result in you caving into your late-night cravings to help you feel better.

3. Improve Heart Health

Believe it or not, but poor quality sleep can be a contributing factor to the development of heart problems including heart disease. It can also result in high blood pressure. The reason for this has to do with not getting enough sleep triggering excess cortisol production. As mentioned above, this is the stress hormone in your body that tells your heart it needs to start working harder. Much like everything else in your body, it needs a break to continue to work properly. Therefore, you need to give your body adequate rest to keep it functioning as well as it can.

4. You’ll Be In a Better Mood

If you’ve ever heard of the term “get up on the right side of the bed,” they aren’t talking about physically on one specific side. Instead, they are referring to how you sleep affecting how you wake up. Those who get poor quality sleep are going to be much more irritable than those that got excellent quality sleep. The more rested you are, the better you’ll wake up feeling. This alone can give you more energy to work with and it can keep your mood elevated. If you’re groggy and tired, you’re going to get annoyed by even the littlest things in life.

5. Improve Your Productivity

A lot of people think they are doing excellent work by staying up late and putting in extra time for office-related tasks or studies. The fact is, if you’re putting off sleep to be productive, you’re going to end up hurting your productivity. It can have the direct opposite effect on whatever you are doing. It is a known fact that quality sleep is linked to better focus, enhanced cognitive function, and better concentration. Therefore, if you’re putting off sleep to do work or to study, you’re ultimately hurting yourself. Allowing yourself to go without a proper night’s sleep is not only going to negatively impact your productivity during the night but also for the following day. Many assume they can easily overcome a lack of sleep with a cup or multiple cups of coffee, but that’s not the case. While the caffeine may keep you going for a little bit, it’s likely going to result in you crashing completely later on in the day. Also, if you fuel yourself with too much caffeine, it’s going to contribute to another poor quality night of sleep and it can turn into a cycle.

Increase your chances of a great night’s sleep with King Koil mattresses. Comfortable and supportive to help you get the rest that you need.
