Robotic Hair Transplant Systems

There are currently 2 Robotic Hair Transplant Systems available in the market, namely the HARRTS or Human Assisted Rapid Robotic Hair Transplant System and the ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant System.

Both these systems are based on the Follicular Unit Extraction techniques with use of Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence.

The ARTAS system uses Stereoscopic Vision Camera to map the Donor Area in 3D. A Robotic Arm with FUE Coring End Effector then cores (creates a cylindrical hole around the follicular unit) the follicular unit, which is then extracted or plucked by the operating technician.

The HARRTS system on the other hand uses High Magnification Camera and Computer Vision Algorithm along with Artificial Intelligence software to Analyze and map the Donor Area. The Robotic Hair Transplant Machine uses a 5 Degrees of Freedom Dexterous Robotic Arm which can is capable of autonomously moving the AI Camera over the Donor Area while extraction. The FUE process uses a computerized suction-based extractor for doing the extraction which is operated by a doctor or technician. Hence the name ‘HARRTS’ or Human Assisted Rapid Robotic Hair Transplant System’.
